Goodwill meeting the demand for jobs in healthcare

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow 13 percent by 2031. In an era where the demand for healthcare professionals is steadily increasing, Goodwill San Antonio's Good Careers Academy is here to provide job training and certifications for individuals seeking stable and rewarding careers in the medical field.
This month, we join the nation in celebrating National Nursing Assistants Week, as assistant nurses are often the first in line to provide treatment and care to those who need it the most. At Goodwill, we take pride in offering a Nurse's Aide certification program that educates and trains qualified graduates to immediately join the workforce upon completion.
Our approach to instruction goes beyond the traditional classroom model, in that we provide comprehensive training that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning. We offer a curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, including basic medical procedures, patient care techniques, and ethical considerations. Additionally, students benefit from practical training in simulated healthcare settings, allowing them to develop critical skills and strengthen their abilities. This experiential learning approach sets them up for success and empowers them to make a positive impact in the lives of their patients.
In addition, our academy goes above and beyond to support our student’s career development while enrolled in our program. Through collaborations with local hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities, our Nurse’s Aide program connects students with valuable externship opportunities, which create seamless pathways for graduates to enter the workforce. By connecting students with potential employers and by facilitating networking opportunities, Goodwill San Antonio enables our graduates to embark on a fulfilling career with confidence.
As with all of our certification programs, graduates of our Good Careers Academy are provided the necessary tools and guidance to succeed. These services are provided at no cost thanks in large part to the generosity of our community who donate gently used items to Goodwill. With the community’s support, we can help remove barriers to make education accessible for all.
