Meet Emily! 👋

Emily had always been someone who followed the rules and stayed out of trouble. Little did she know one mistake would lead to a five-year sentence in prison, altering the course of her life.

After serving her time, Emily was determined to rebuild her life and found her second chance with Goodwill San Antonio. She began working in our call center and, just a few months later, officially joined the team as a full-time employee.

While at Goodwill, Emily learned about the Goodwill Academy, a program providing free career training to the community. Driven by a desire to see the world through a new lens, she enrolled and successfully earned her commercial driver’s license.

“To anyone who’s been in my shoes...go for it,” she said. “You never know what can come from trying something new. All it takes is the strength within yourself to break the cycle.”
